Buying Guide

Performance is King

Brushless motors, electronics, and batteries have improved to the point where voltage is no longer the only factor in determining performance. For us, cutting speed and torque are more important than anything else when it comes to cutting through dense hardwoods.

Runtime is (Sort of) a Big Deal

Cutting speed and power should be balanced with runtime for an optimal battery-powered chainsaw. The use of larger batteries is undoubtedly beneficial. The same may be said about advancements in battery technology. It's possible to get more performance out of your chainsaw without sacrificing runtime by switching to denser cells with more stronger connections.

Rapid chargers are the subject of the opposite side of the debate. The majority of manufacturers now provide them, and a number of them include them as standard equipment. Cordless technology has made it possible to run all day on two batteries and a rapid charger.

Triggered

Most chainsaws are identical in shape and have all of the same fundamental operational features. Where the greatest cordless chainsaws differ in form is mostly in their switches and triggers.

All of the saws have a UL or similar test lab certification on them, but they’re not all the same. In use, some of the saws in our test have more clear two-step triggers while others can be simply actuated with a single grab around their lockout button and trigger. At the end of the day, we expect our chainsaws to have a trigger mechanism that will prohibit us from accidently engaging the motor, and all of our recommendations fit that requirement. From there, it’s only a matter of the feel or function you like.

The actual two-step lockouts aren’t difficult to use in typical settings. In awkward circumstances, such as reaching around a tree while limbing, occasionally the mechanical lockouts might be tough to slide.

For select cordless chainsaws, the first of two (or sometimes three) stages of beginning is an electronic power button.

Some electronic switch saws can be run with a single grip once powered on. You only have to be cautious of the auto timeout feature. It can be annoying the pull the trigger to no effect when you thought the saw was ready.

Ease of Adjustment

It's nearly always necessary to adjust the chainsaw bars after each use. In a matter of minutes, a new chain is formed. As it becomes more comfortable, you'll want to tighten it up a couple more times.

If your chain suddenly tightens, it's likely that your bar isn't receiving enough oil. Make sure the saw is fully oiled before attempting to loosen it.

The end of the day is a great time to loosen your chain. Parts can be damaged if it becomes too tight due to the cold weather.

In order to adjust a saw's blade, you will need a tool called a scrench, which is a screwdriver-wrench combo tool. Plastic knobs and/or dials integrated into the saw make for the fastest and easiest tool-free adjustment. In order to appropriately tension the chain, the bar is loosened, and the bar is moved forward or backward.

DUAL STUDS VS TOOL-FREE ADJUSTERS

Adjusting saws with tool-free mechanisms have one bar attachment, whereas manual variants often have two attachment studs. We don't think it's a hard-and-fast rule that a saw with two studs indicates that it's designed for pros. In any case, not for smaller saws. However, multiple stud bar mounting are standard on the largest and strongest chainsaws.

To loosen one nut, only tighten the other one a little bit at a time.

AW, NUTS!

Lost bar nuts are a common problem when working in the field. In order to avoid this, some saws are equipped with captive nuts that, no matter how hard you spin them, will not come completely off the cover.

If your saw's nuts aren't strong enough, it's a good idea to have an extra set on hand just in case.

Look for saws with built-in storage slots to keep your adjustment tool close at reach.

Although we all have different tastes, I can respect both techniques of adjusting. For my tiny saws, we like how quick and easy tool-free adjustments are. We're more comfortable using a wrench to secure the blade end of large saws.

Except in cases when the mechanism is defective, it had no effect on the performance of the saws we tested. The ideal battery-powered chainsaw for you is the one that inspires both confidence and convenience in your use of it.

Conclusion

Due to out of stock issues, TORRYZA is the last chainsaw on our list of the best tiny chainsaws, but this is a high-quality chainsaw with a lightweight copper engine and extra battery power.

In addition to the improved manoeuvrability, this model features a sleek appearance and a plush grip. Torryza is one of the best chainsaws for backyard gardening, pruning and shearing trees, and other outdoor tasks.
